Rechargeable Batteries
Westinghouse - Currently being tested is NiMh AA cells rated at 2000mAh. Name is well enough known, though I can't say I've heard of them making batteries before. Should be interesting, hope to have some data shortly!
Update: Cells produced ~85% of rating. This is quite easily within expected performance IMHO. Price point, while not the lowest available, is well below the high end. May well prove to be best performance per dollar.
Curiously, the cells do not exhibit sufficient delta-peak voltage drop to trigger end-of-charge cycle; even when set for 5mV. More on this later; but for now a caution to anyone charging them with peak chargers - watch them closely.

Values given are mAh discharge. * Cells would not trip delta-peak detection at 5mV; charge terminated by manual temperature observation at approx. 3000mAh. Additional testing/analyses to come soon on this issue. It is possible that full charge was not reached. |
